Three years ago, Wendy picked up a pencil during 2020’s downtime and began drawing plants and household objects. Now studying interior design while working as a freelance florist, her nature-inspired artwork reflects her dual passions. Recently transitioning from pencils to paintbrushes, she explores oil paints’ vibrant colours and rich textures.
A mid-century design enthusiast, Wendy’s work carries nostalgic sensibilities rooted in the past. Her “coveted object series” features mid-century items she’s admired over the years, including a charming box camera that inspired her favourite piece—now featured on an art cup.
Wendy believes art’s power lies in its ability to evoke hidden feelings, spark memories, and transform moods. This November, she’ll showcase her solo exhibition “Sun Lounging” at Palette Cafe in North Fremantle, featuring mid-century-inspired pool scenes and interiors. She finds joy in connecting with fellow artists and seeing people enjoy her camera cup design.
