School Barista Training goes hand in hand with our philosophy as specialists in coffee education. Because here at Leaf Bean Machine we place great emphasis on education and training, and we are known for our excellent customer service.
Through our custom-built barista training facility, we are able to empower our students with the knowledge and techniques required to prepare consistent, delicious coffee every time.
We also specialise in coffee training for teachers, providing you with techniques that can easily be incorporated into any home economics or food technology course.

Barista Training for Schools
Our school barista training course is specially designed for teachers and students. The course focuses on the skills required to make great coffee either at home or in a hospitality environment.
Students will learn:
- How to operate a coffee machine (barista technique)
- Espresso recipe and the factors that affect espresso flavour
- How, why and when to adjust a coffee grinder
- The defining characteristics of each drink on the cafe menu
- How to thoroughly clean the espresso machine and grinder
Where are the courses held?
Classes are held here at the Karvan Coffee roastery in Bibra Lake. (Find us here)
How many students per course?
We have a total of five coffee machines and ten coffee grinders in our training lab where we can accommodate small groups of five (one student per machine and grinder) or groups of up to ten (students have their own grinder but share a machine). Larger groups can be accommodated however please note that this will increase session times.
How long do barista training courses run for?
Our classes are normally 3.5 – 4 hours in duration. (For larger groups more time may be required)
What is the cost per student?
$90 per student.
What resources are provided during the barista course?
Each student will receive a copy of our Barista Training manual. Written by our own barista trainers this training booklet covers coffee preparation, machine and grinder use as well as a handy troubleshooting guide.
