School Barista Courses
A school term of learning in only 4 hours.
Our school barista training course is specially designed for teachers and students. The course focuses on the skills required to make great coffee either at home or in a hospitality environment. Teachers enjoy this course for the content, resources and training provided in one lesson.
- Theory behind the origin of the coffee.
- Science of extraction and the espresso recipe.
- The defining characteristics of each drink on the cafe menu.
- How to operate a coffee machine and specifically; the barista technique.
- How, why and when to adjust a coffee grinder.
- How to thoroughly clean their workspace, espresso machine, grinder and barista tools.

Why choose Leaf Bean Machine?
As specialty coffee roasters and suppliers of coffee equipment to the hospitality industry, we know good coffee. We have a purpose-built training facility overlooking our roasting room right here at our HQ and Karvan Coffee roastery in Bibra Lake. Students will have access to a coffee station and with the guidance of an experienced barista trainer, they will learn to perfect the art of coffee making.
How many students per course?
We have a total of five coffee machines and ten coffee grinders in our training facility. Due to the hands-on nature of this training, we suggest 10 people per group/per training.
How long do barista training courses run for?
Barista training sessions can be tailored to suit your school timetable. We operate morning and afternoon sessions which will include a combination of theory and practice. Please allow 4 hours in duration.
What resources are provided during the barista course?
Each student will receive a copy of our Barista Training manual. Written by our own barista trainers this training booklet covers coffee preparation, machine and grinder use as well as a handy troubleshooting guide.
Will the students receive a certificate?
All students will receive a participation certificate that will clearly outline the training that has been completed. This document will be branded Leaf Bean Machine and it will be a great resource for students who are looking to pursue work in the hospitality industry.
