Annette Seeman is a practising artist exhibiting since 1982, represented in major permanent public and private collections nationally and internationally. Based in Fremantle, her current practice focuses on constructing visual narratives about sanctuary and hospitality. Her featured artwork explores the intersection of sea and sky, creating what she describes as “an aesthetics of the beautiful and the endless”. The piece examines fictionalised horizons as visual sequences of possibilities, limits, lack and loss, where human absence forms narratives of good intentions. Annette chose this work for its universality—it could represent a specific place or any place. She believes art practice forms an essential part of culture, with artists providing thoughtful critique of political, economic and social systems while encouraging thoughtful engagement and social development. The cultural breadth of any society can be measured by the work of its artists, making arts support crucial for community development.
