Pure Tea & Octavia Tomyn
As you have already seen on our socials, we have collaborated with Octavia Tomyn to bring to you an exclusive range of tea-themed gifts!
Working with Octavia has been a wonderful process due to her incredible vision as well as her peaceful and encouraging nature.
We spoke to Octavia to pick her brain on what gives her inspiration.
But first…
As a small loose-leaf tea supplier in Bibra Lake, Perth – curating, enjoying and sharing a cup of tea is core to both our business and our livelihoods. For us, tea represents creating space to slow down and finding a moment in the day just for you.
This year has really highlighted the importance of finding this moment. Like most, there have been many hurdles in our path, which can easily become overwhelming. However, taking a step back and finding a breath (and a cup of tea) has offered a world of support.
We hope you’re doing ok and have found some time to unwind in your own unique way.
Interview with Octavia
We first came across Octavia’s work through social media. Instantly we fell in love with her thoughtful linework integrated with modern shapes and captivating colours. Each piece by Octavia Tomyn offers the viewer comfort and inspiration. We feel very lucky to have the privilege of offering Octavia’s design on our tea-themed gifts.
The design was made specifically for Pure Tea, featuring a woman cradling herself and her cuppa.
We chat with Octavia to hear more about her life as an artist, a Mum and her thoughts on this tea project.
Can you share with us how you became a full-time artist?
I began my art business 2 years ago to express myself creatively again after 3 years of maternity leave and from my job as a fashion designer. I had no grand plans for this to become my new career and was just willing to see where this journey might take me. Since then, I have created hundreds of artworks for people all around the world and my work has reached at least 22 countries! I am still a full-time stay-at-home mum, but am now also juggling a growing art business!
What do you love most about being creative?
It’s fun – all the time!
I look forward to sitting down each day to work on my art. It breaks up the day and excites and motivates me. I also love meeting interesting and unique people and hearing their stories. It’s a real privilege.
What were your first thoughts when you received this project?
I loved the idea of teaming up with a family-owned Australian small business.
Leaf Bean Machine is obviously very passionate about its product and has such a beautiful selection of teas and coffee. I had ideas that could work my organic lines and relaxed figures into the mood of this brand. I also love the idea of what sitting down to a cup of tea means and was excited to explore this as a concept.
What was your inspiration for this piece of work?
This piece was all about capturing the moment that a cup of beautiful tea allows you. A small escape from a busy day, comfort and healing for your soul. It’s time to recharge, both emotionally and physically. 10 minutes of slowing down.
How do you take a moment for you?
My morning tea is definitely one of these opportunities. I don’t allow anyone to hassle me until I have had it!
My art is also a time where I can slow down my thoughts, meditate, and contemplate something deeper.
What keeps you grounded and at peace?
Definitely my faith. I spend a lot of time trying to understand who God says he is and his purpose for my life. This helps direct the choices I make, the way I see things and people. It gives me an ultimate sense of peace and direction in life.
What gives you the most joy?
My girls, sunny days, going out for dinner, linen sheets and Nutella crepes.
What is your favourite cup of tea?
My favourite tea is Chai. I love it can be a bit like a spicy dessert and can be spiked with so many flavours and variations. It’s always a treat. I like to have one of these at a cafe or at home with my hubby on the weekends.
What is a motto or quote you live by?
You are loved.
It has been our dear pleasure working with Octavia.
We hope you enjoy these gifts, this message and the cups of tea.
See you soon.
