Prepare yourselves for the best sticky chai recipe… ever! Plus, there’s the option to make it vegan too (see notes section).
The (not-so-secret) secret ingredient is the Pure Tea Chai that’s chosen to make this mix. We might be a little biased towards our Chai, but once you’ve tasted it, you’ll understand what we mean!
The loose-leaf chai ingredients include premium quality black tea (Camellia Sinensis), ginger pieces, cinnamon zeylanicum, cardamon, star anise, cloves and a sprinkle of black pepper. This blend is 100% natural, ethically sourced, premium quality and has the perfect ratio of authentic spices to high-grade tea leaves. Enjoy this brew black or with a dash of milk.
As much as we love our Chai served black and bold, we’re also suckers for a good sticky chai recipe as well. We make a whole batch at a time, store it in a jar in the fridge and use it up throughout the week.
Adding coconut gives the brew a naturally sweet and almost buttery flavour. Vanilla sprinkles an extra bedazzle to the cup. Honey makes it oozy, sticky, and oh-so scrumptious. And, our tea leaves are strong enough to pack a punch of smokey chai notes even when you serve the sticky chai recipe as a latte.
Sticky Chai Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Pure Tea Chai leaves
- 2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp ginger
- 1/4 cup heated honey*
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Method:
- Add all dry ingredients (tea leaves, cinnamon, coconut, nutmeg & ginger) to a large mixing bowl and stir.
- Add all wet ingredients (vanilla, heated honey, lemon juice) to a separate smaller bowl and stir.
- Pour wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and… you guessed it – stir!
- Make sure the ingredients are well combined.
- Store in an air-tight container and keep in the fridge.
Serve:
If you’re a cafe, we use 2 teaspoons per 230ml cup. Allow brewing for 2mins 30seconds in the milk jug. Add milk to the jug with the sticky chai. Froth milk. Pour chai liquid over a tea sieve to make sure no leaves fall into the cup.
Drink and enjoy! Add more tea leaves to the brew if you would like a stronger flavour. Add fewer tea leaves if you prefer a lighter brew.
Notes:
*You can opt the honey out of the recipe and use molasses, agave, or coconut syrup. Agave has the most similar texture to honey.
We recommend enjoying the sticky chai within a week to ensure optimal flavour and freshness. Store in an airtight container, in the fridge.
