One of our most popular loose leaf teas. Chai is said to be originally from India. History says that the king created a healing drink from a strong base of Indian teas and spices. As a result Pure Tea’s Chai is a black loose leaf tea blended with rich warm spices; cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and ginger. It is very common to see pots of bubbling milky chai in India and the smell of our chai brewing transports you there. Want to know how to make the best chai?
For your enjoyment, we recommend brewing your tea using the following recipe:
- 2.5g (1 teaspoon) of loose leaf tea or 1 teabag per cup
- 240ml filtered water, 100 degrees C from a temperature controlled kettle
- Steep for 2 to 3 minutes or longer if you enjoy a bolder flavour
- Remove leaves to prevent further steeping
- Add honey to create a wet chai mix
Ingredients: Black tea (Camellia sinesis), ginger pieces, cinnamon zeylanicum, cardamom, star anise, cloves, black pepper.
Because it is fun to personalise your tea, try mixing honey to make a wet chai. Pop the kettle on and pour 100 degree water over 2.5gms in a milk jug. Top with one cup of milk and texture using your espresso machine. Strain using a small strainer into your favourite mug and enjoy. A treat at any time of the day.
