Coffee Meets Art – Honeycomb by Sienna Flora
We’re delighted to feature the vibrant artwork Honeycomb by emerging artist Sienna Flora on our Round 5 Karvan Art Cup.
Sienna’s piece, originally titled Sweet Nectar, began as a school project in her Visual Art ATAR class under the theme Squeeze. This was the first time she explored coloured pencil as a medium – and it quickly became her favourite. Through layers of warm tones and fine detail, she created Honeycomb, a work that celebrates the beauty and precision of nature’s patterns while highlighting her growing skill and passion for realism.
The inspiration behind Honeycomb came full circle when Sienna shared her art with her boss at Coogee Continental, who encouraged her to submit it to the Art Cup Project. “I thought the honeycomb design was a perfect fit,” Sienna says. “It’s often part of customers’ coffee orders, so seeing it on a cup just felt right!”
For Sienna, this project symbolises both personal growth and community support. “This was my first real artwork,” she shares. “Looking back, I’m proud of how much I’ve learnt – not just about technique, but about pursuing art as a passion.”
She believes supporting local artists is vital, especially for young creators finding their voice. “It allows artists to thrive through what they love and reminds us that creativity is worth celebrating.”
