Title: Three Birds On A Line
Introducing Liliana
What's in your art cup? Tea or coffee?
In the company of a good friend, she enjoys a cappuccino or Chai Latte with almond milk.
Why this piece of artwork for the cup?
Good coffee makes me smile. Three little birds on a swing also makes me smile. They go together.
"I call them Seelie birds. Seelie means magic and that's what birds are plus they can fly which means they enjoy a wider point of view to us humans"

What is the story behind this piece of art?
I love birds and walk often at Manning Lake to enjoy their company. A few years ago, I began making bird sculptures, first in tissue paper, then paper clay, soapstone, wire and finally glass. I call them Seelie birds. Seelie means magic and that’s what birds are plus they can fly which means they enjoy a wider point of view to us humans. I made three paper clay seelie birds and sat them on a swing for fun. A friend and photographer Dave Kafui Hans-Folly took a photo and Swinging Fun was born.
What have you enjoyed about this project?
Art and coffee feels like a great combination and plain coffee cups are boring.
Why is it important to support the arts?
The arts remind us there is more to this life than the everyday. They bring the magic, expand our horizons, provide a wider point of view.
