Title: Other Side of the Dune
Introducing Gina
What's in your art cup? Tea or coffee?
Unfortunately, I usually drink one coffee a day because of heart palpitations but I like it to be a good one. Relatively strong, large and hot with a dash of full cream milk. Fairly simple but an important part of my daily routine.
Why this piece of artwork for the cup?
I live in the southwest of Western Australia and my paintings of our beautiful coastline are very popular with locals and tourists alike. This painting not only showcases my beautiful backyard but is a good example of my style and influence. This piece also features on my business cards, banners and website.
What is the story behind this piece of art?
My husband and I enjoy a coastal hike, this painting was inspired by a photo that I took while hiking between Moses Rock and Qinninup Falls. I love the contrasting colours of the WA coast, and the sandy path leading to the cool refreshing water just inviting the viewer to come and enjoy.
What have you enjoyed about this project?
When I first heard about this project in 2022 I was excited to try and be a part of it.
Why is it important to support the arts?
Many people may view and art practice as more of a hobby than a thriving business. Slowly I have been establishing myself as a professional artist and am becoming recognised internationally for my Australian seascape paintings. This does take a lot of work promoting and looking for opportunities such as this to gain exposure. So I am truly grateful to be involved in this project.
