Blend 1 of yesterday is gone, finished and we are only looking forward. So let’s take a look at the blend and see what the individuals bring to the trio.
The successor of our seasonal is a Burundi, Hondurus and Mexican. Each region brings a special something so lets get to know them better. New release May 24, is a tasty blend and for the first time we have added an Anaerobic Honey processed bean.
Smooth, complements milk well, has great texture and a delightful chocolatey profile.
Medium body, chocolatey and smooth. This bean also has a great texture that complements the milk very well. It livens the blend bringing with it the weight to carry the flavours through milk while adding a lovely aftertaste of chocolate. This bean comes from the Nayarita Region where there still are a few coffee trees dating back 100 years! Chosen for its delightful profile, stays to keep the blend delivering a full-bodied finish.
The bean that sets up the others for success. Clean, light, tea like and with flavours of stone fruit.
Stone fruits, and lots of it! Very clean. Tea like and sweet bean. This is the base for the blend that sets it up to be light but with plenty of sweetness throughout. We love a great bean from Burundi and this one is coming from the Mirango washing station that is a collection of farmers in the Bururu Province. Notably 53% of these smallholder farmers are women producers. Chosen for the base loved for the sweetness it brings.
We all need a little extra in our life. Sticky, syrupy, savoury and our first Honey processed bean to make the blend.
Sticky, syrupy bean that’s full of texture! Adding a little more complexity to this blend is this lovely lot from Juan Contreras. Ripe plum to savory biscuits this bean brings that little extra punch in the flavour department. First ever seasonal blend we do with a honey processed bean in the mix. No one better than Juan Contreras to take this step with us. Becoming a farmer at 23 years of age, since then his goal is to continue his father’s legacy and elevate it further with new varieties and processing methods. Chosen for its syrupy, stone fruit, biscuity, complex character, loved for being the extra we all need in our life.
