Mrs Grey

A flavoured black tea, Mrs Grey by Pure Tea is classically scented with natural bergamot oil and features blue cornflowers.

What is bergamot? Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is a type of citrus which can vary in colour depending on ripeness. It is incredibly fragrant, and the oil is extracted from the rind. Bergamot is said to perhaps be a derivative of the lemon and bitter orange. As a result of its incredible scent, bergamot is used in aromatherapy and has calming qualities useful for reducing anxiety.

This elegant tea was better named after a lady rather than its counterpart, Earl Grey, as it is a bit more delicate. Mrs Grey is delicious any time of the day but well suited to a high tea with a plate of scones, jam and cream.

For your enjoyment, we recommend brewing your flavoured black tea using the following recipe:

• 2.5g (1 teaspoon) of loose leaf tea or 1 teabag per cup
• 240ml filtered water, 100 degrees C from  a temperature-controlled kettle
• Steep for 3 to 4 minutes or longer if you enjoy a bolder flavour
• Remove leaves to prevent further steeping
