Drip brew coffee is the process of pouring water over roasted, ground coffee beans through a filter, hence the term filter coffee. With the use of gravity the water seeps through the ground coffee absorbing the oils and essences and filtering down into the receptacle. The grounds required are a coarser grind than for espresso as the longer the brew time the coarser the grinds need to be.
Drip brewing in this fashion is widely used particularly in North America. We have all seen television episodes with waitress’ wandering around the coffee shop ‘topping up’ patrons coffee from a glass pot. Well why not enjoy this luxury while reading the newspaper on a Sunday morning.
