In 1824 tea was bought to Sri Lanka from China by the British who are renowned for their love of tea. Today Sri Lanka is the fourth largest tea producer in the world. Tino’s plantation is in the town of Rozella in the Central Province where a sub tropical climate with humidity, cool temperatures and average rainfall favours tea production.
Lauren, who works in the customer service and wholesale sales department, recently travelled to Sri Lanka with her partner. As Lauren and her partner were given a tour around the 7.5 acres of tea plantation, they were spoilt with views of Adams Peak, one of the highest mountains in Sri Lanka in the distance.
Lauren learnt about the entire tea process from plant to cup and was very spoilt indeed. Hot and in need of a cup of tea, they finished what had been an amazingly informative day, on the verandah of the main house and sipped a cup of freshly processed F OP1 (Flowery Orange Pekoe 1 – high quality whole leaf). Lauren said it was the most beautiful tea she had ever tasted and now I am green with envy.
