This excellent coffee is produced by the Makwa Farm located between the towns of Ruiru and Thika in South Western Kenya. The region is well known for rich volcanic soil and high annual rainfall, providing excellent coffee growing conditions.
Measuring in at approximately 92 hectares, the farm has been owned by local company Chania Mwahota Ikai since 1975. The coffee is handpicked and processed in the same day at the local wet mill, where the nearby Chania and Karimuni rivers provide the water for the wet processing.
The beans are then dried on raised beds for a more even drying process, before being sent for final processing at the nearby dry mill.
