These Kenya AA Gachuiro coffee beans offer a classic cup of Kenyan with its juicy fruit flavours.
Although a neighbour to Ethiopia (where coffee originated), Kenya was late to the party. Kenya’s coffee board was established in 1933 and wow are we thankful! When Kenya found their footing within the coffee industry they made a big impact. The region’s coffee knowledge grew rapidly seeing their flavours become more complex. Sold globally, Kenyan coffee beans are a favourite by us coffee snobs.
Gachurio is a Kikuyu word meaning “to wait for too long” because the area here was occupied by the Masaai, who could not easily be moved and therefore, took ‘too long’ to push them towards Kieni.
Sourced from the finest region in Kenya (Nyeri) these Kenya AA Gachuiro coffee beans offer a superb cup. Nyeri is considered to produce the best coffee in Kenya with its deep and rich soil and knowledgable farmers.
These microlot speciality coffee beans are from the Kiama Farmers Cooperative Society. There are 5 factory members of the Cooperative with all members collecting their coffee cherries from the surrounding area.
Grown in supreme coffee growing conditions, it’s easy to say these coffee cherries are well looked after.
Gachuiro’s land is rich in volcanic soil, the climate is moderate with temperatures ranging 15 – 28 and has a rainfall of 1090mm.
The farmers carefully hand-sort and select the juiciest coffee cherries. The coffee cherry’s fruit is then removed from the coffee bean. Freshwater from the Kagumo River is used in the process by making use of the beautiful natural resources. The coffee beans are then sun-dried on raised tables and then they’re taken to the dry mill for secondary processing.
We recommend serving as a long black or serve as filter. This way, you can experience the complex flavour notes that Kenya AB coffee beans present. Take a sip, let the flavours melt in your mouth and feel your imagination explore the taste notes.
