Rum aged coffee
Rum aged barrel coffee, a delectable and unique flavour experience.
Colombian coffee beans dried in rum barrels for 20 days. This process allows the beans to hold onto the rich taste notes naturally inherent in the coffee beans whilst also soaking up the smooth flavours from the rum barrel.
As soon as you open your bag of beans the glorious coffee and rum flavours fill the air.
When we were roasting these beans, the mouth-watering smells instantly filled the entire roastery. Sweetness, a touch of vanilla, and woody undertones, the rum barrel puts forward such rich and delicious notes. Followed by juicy citrus and dark cocoa from the coffee beans – you’ll need a glass of water to stop you from salivating.
We’re enjoying the Santa Monica served as a long black or as a milky mug to experience the flavour bomb these beans offer.
If you’re a lover of rum (or you simply like to try new coffees) you won’t want to miss out on these! Only a limited number available for a limited time.
From the roaster
Marte (our head coffee roaster) describes this coffee, “an absolute experience. These experimental processes are very interesting and unique. It’s a lot of fun to showcase what these farmers are producing. These beans reflect how the coffee industry is always changing and innovating. Always something new and delicious to try. This Colombian in particular is an aromatic wonderland. Drink up.”
Firstly, this coffee was exposed to a dry anaerobic fermentation of 24 hours. Next, the green beans were laid out on raised beds until the ideal moisture content was achieved. After, beans are packed into grain pro bags for another 50 hours. This decreases the moisture content by 7.5% Once this process has been completed the coffee is placed into rum barrels for 20 days to soak up those delicious rum taste notes.
We’ve been loving these delicious coffee beans served as a long black to experience all of the flavours these beans offer.
