This is a coffee farm that’s been in the Franco family for four generations. The family prides itself on their coffee, striving to produce the best Brazil coffee beans on the market.
Guilherme Franco is the head of operations at the farm and has committed his entire career to specialty coffee. He studied Agronomic Engineering with a master’s degree in Coffee Plant Nutrition and has committed wholeheartedly to the farm since. His long education has paid off as he’s successfully experimented with growing methods to assist the farm’s high altitudes. There’s a lot of risks involved in growing coffee at high altitudes. However, Guilherme developed his own method that works with the high altitudes to produce delicious beans.
You can truly taste the complexity of this Brazil in the cup. Just have a sip and experience for yourself!
“Many people say that planting coffee nowadays at this altitude is a big risk, due to the cold climate and difficulty in handling the harvest. However, we embraced the challenge and today we produce a rarity on the top of the mountains of Minas Gerais.”
This region in Brazil is very special. The land has been naturally gifted with perfect conditions for growing specialty coffee. With fertile soils, plenty of sunlight, and high elevations the region produces exceptional coffee year after year.
Many Brazil coffee beans from the region have been prized in renowned competitions such as The Cup of Excellence.
It has been a dream of Guilherme’s to share his farm’s coffee with Australia. And now (finally) here they are! We couldn’t be more delighted to have these beans in our roastery.
Throughout each step of the process, Guilherme ensures that strict sustainability guidelines are followed.
In 2011, the region was awarded as PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) due to its deep-rooted traditions and reputation for producing high-quality coffee.
We (the Leaf Bean Machine team) personally hold sustainability as core to our values both as individuals and as a business. It’s wonderful to see coffee farms adopt environmentally conscious approaches.
With the high altitudes and rich soil, these coffee beans offer a complex and tasty flavour profile.
You’ll experience sweet bursts of fig, earth-y hazelnut with a sprinkle of brown sugar.
