This year Mr Brad Cassidy #BOSSMAN is celebrating his birthday … again! Pre COVID we might have paid more attention to numbers, but Post COVID we’ve all aged well and truly past our birth year and so let’s just focus on the roast!

Our head roaster Marte (#shestheroaster) has been very busy squirrelling away a special bean from Chiriquí province in Boquete, Panama. She has chosen a specialty coffee producer in this region not only for their delicious microlot coffee but also for their commitment to farmers. The producer known as CCD, which stands for Creativa Coffee District, is changing the way that coffee farmers grow, process, and market coffee.

Coffee growers in Panama rarely get to process their coffee cherries because typically they do not have access to facilities. CCD is changing this! They have converted a traditional wet mill and drying patio into a modern state-of-the-art processing facility, integrating art and specialty coffee in a unique and authentic space. The movement will promote a new coffee production standard to guarantee higher incomes for growers. At Leaf Bean Machine, we are committed to supporting sustainable growth and the community. This is a delicious coffee and a bean with a backstory, so what’s not to love!

Special coffee for a special guy

One of Brad’s favourite things to do is to fish. Brad is happy to watch fishing, listen to fishing Podcasts and order fishing accessories online. There are always packages arriving at LBM HQ. Brad is always planning and dreaming about his next boating, fishing and caravanning adventure and he loves himself a good Barramundi! We wanted to capture his adventurous spirit on the label of his birthday coffee and, in line with our values, we chose Obi Marinich to do the artwork. Obi is a 13-year-old visual art student from Fremantle, Western Australia, and the son of a valued client. Together, we have created a ” Brad Cassidy dream Bubble” and a delicious Single Origin roast that honours the spirit of the man himself!
