Margaret River Gourmet Escape
After months of planning and preparation, culminating in weekend amongst some of Australia’s finest food and beverage producers, the Karvan Coffee team are tired but very happy with the results from the festival.
The team launched an extra special product this year: Nitro Cold Brew. Our custom Nitro bar was built by Brad (Coffee Roaster), Lachie (Research/Development) and Matt (Coffee Machine Service Technician).
Built by hand, our clever boys created not only a functional piece of brewing equipment but an eye catching feature of our exhibit.
The process to make this extra special brew requires the coffee to be steeped for almost 24 hours, filtered, poured into kegs which are then charged with Nitrogen. By adding the Nitrogen, this process takes cold brew to the next level, creating a smooth, creamy, velvet mouth feel. Part coffee, part science, absolutely amazing.
Many guests were left wondering what was going to come out of the tap and the surprise and excitement we encountered when they were told it was coffee was fantastic to see. Featuring two single origins: PNG Kimel Peaberry and Kenyan Kigwandi AA, the Nitro Bar was by far the stand out for our exhibit this year
As a Perth coffee roaster, Margaret River Gourmet Escape is a great way to showcase our coffee, with many guests jumping at the opportunity to buy coffee beans to take home with them.
Karvan Coffee was also given the opportunity to spoil some of the world’s best chefs, providing coffee for the main stage for the likes of Nigella Lawson, Adam Liaw, Rick Stein, Guy Grossi and Dominique Crenn.
Karvan Coffee was everywhere at this year from the Gourmet Village at Leeuwin Estate, at Pullman Resort Bunker Bay for the Audi Australia guests and at Brunch with the Best.
Set among the beautiful grounds of Voyager Estate, guests were treated to a morning of delicious food, great coffee and the opportunity to ‘Brunch with the Best‘: a Q&A with some of the world’s top chefs.
Although this was a busy, jam packed weekend, the team (now back at the roastery) all agree that Margaret River Gourmet Escape is well worth all the hard work and preparation. Being able to showcase our coffee at such a beautiful location, with so many enthusiastic foodies in attendance: this definitely is the highlight of our events calendar.
