Racquel and I met to have a cuppa and I thought I would put her on the spot and ask her a few questions starting with how her business started
My business started by accident twice….The first time I was in my 20’s and I was asked by the manager of a large hotel to supply them with cookies as their usual baker had moved on. I eagerly said yes and before I knew it my business was growing and gaining momentum and after 5 years I sold it. Two decades later and history repeated itself when I was asked to make my Greek crescent biscuit for a local cafe. Word of mouth spread and I took on more cafe’s and 8 years later here I am addicted to cookies and cafe’s again!
As a Karvan Coffee lover, what is your favourite way to enjoy a cup?
Even though I have a decent coffee machine at home I love enjoying your coffee at the cafes on my delivery runs. I am ridiculously excited when I know I am delivering to a cafe with your Karvan Coffee. What do you look forward to every day?
I love to wake up at 4am and do yoga! I finish as the sun is rising and then take my dog for a walk. I look forward to the light as the sun comes up and I usually try and be outdoors when the sun is setting too. So calming before or after what can be a crazy day.
What led you to create a ‘date with Karvan’ cookie?
I love cookies and the opportunity to play around and create some thing new is always appealing. Walnuts and coffee were a big thing in old school recipes but this just does not strike me as the best match, so I tried dates and chocolate instead. Now I have opened up a Pandora’s box for myself with ideas pouring out. Spices, honey, mmmm… I will just have to keep sampling coffee to create the perfect balance of flavours that I have dreamed up.
Sounds like a good excuse Racquel! Stay tuned as these scrumptious cookies may become a treat in online orders, that is if we don’t eat them before they make their journey!
