Gourmet Escape 2014 was an experience we will always remember because of the wonderful feedback and reception we got for the Karvan Coffee Blend #5 and the Small Batch roasts which we roasted exclusively for the show. Leewin Estate provided the perfect backdrop for Gourmet Escape 2014, which was well organised by Brand Events and our team.Brad roasted 25kg of Karvan Coffee for Gourmet Escape 2014 and to say we were busy can only be explained by the 23kg of coffee that we sold in 12 hours over 2 days. Karvan #5 was well received with many people commenting that it was their favourite coffee of the show. 15kg of this delicious espresso blend comprising of 40% Sumatran, 30% Kenyan and 30% Ethiopian was pumped through the Wega Concept, and so luckily we decided to take a 3 group. The Karvan #5 exhibited bright, sparkly fruits up front with melted icecream sweetness and a dark chocolate finish. Yummo and combine it with Simmos Vanilla Bean Icecream and our Iced Coffee and Affogato were to die for….The photos say it all.
On the brew bar we showcased a different Karvan Small Batch every couple of hours. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Kenyan Kathera and Ethiopian Sidamo took turns at being centre stage. The brewing methods chosen to really encourage our Karvan Small Batches to truly shine were the Chemex filter, Aeropress and the Clever Coffee Dripper. Comments and favourites were varied but the Chemex was by far the standout method producing a super clean flavour for all coffees.
Everyone had their own personal highlight for the weekend….
Lachie – “Being surrounded by people who are receptive to new flavours in particular with regard to filter coffee”
Brad – “I was so proud to hear lots of people loving the product that I roast”
Laurene – “Being fairly new to the company I learnt more in 2 days about coffee than I thought would be possible”
Mick – “Affogato!!”and for me…..
I was rewarded with many people commenting that our stand was the best and after many months of preparing what more could I ask for.
