What's in your art cup? Tea or coffee?
I usually have a flat white with almond milk. I quite often visit Coogee Continental Deli as I have artwork displayed there. The first thing I do is order my Karvan flat white.
Why this piece of artwork for the cup?
I chose this artwork for the cup mainly for its vibrancy and colour. I want people to feel warm and happy when drinking their favourite coffee. Also as a tribute to my mum who inspired me to have a strong connection with the beauty of flowers.
What is the story behind this piece of art?
This piece of artwork was inspired by my mum, who had a great love of flowers and plants. She always had fresh flowers in her home, usually from her own garden. My Studio was her home for almost 20 years and I draw a lot of inspiration from the space she loved and lived in.

What have you enjoyed about this project?
I’ve loved being involved with the Art Cup project. It’s been fun seeing the project come to life. I’m very grateful to have been chosen as a local artist representing the local art community in this round. I will be super happy to see my artwork on cups being filled by baristas all over the state.
Why is it important to support the arts?
To me, art soothes the soul. I can’t imagine what life would be like without my art.
I think most artists would feel the same way. Supporting artists not only helps them financially to continue what they love to do but also brings the joy of knowing that someone else enjoys and appreciates their work. It is so rewarding to create something from your own self, to show to the world a little bit of you—no words or speaking… just you.
